AS YOU SEE IT CHALLENGE #123

 

Hello there, welcome back!

This week I have a card I created for the As You See It Challenge blog.

This week at As You See It its theme week and our theme for the week is Swirls !

 

 

Swirls they wanted, so swirls I gave them - a lot of them!

I decided to use Blackberry Bliss, White and Silver for this card design.

 

I started off by using my We R Memory Keepers Trim & Score Board to trim down some

Blackberry Bliss cardstock to make my card base, making an A2 top folding card.

 

Next using a background die from Poppy Stamps I took the die Scrolling Background and die cut it out using more Blackberry Bliss cardstock, it’s a very busy background so I wanted to tone it down a bit by having that same colour blend from the card base while still been able to see the beautiful swirls.

 

To make a focal area and to help draw the eye away from all those swirls I added a stitched circle using the Lil’ Inker Designs Stitched Mat Circles, I die cut my stitched circle out of my favourite white cardstock, Trophee Board White Linen 240 GMS cardstock.

 

I then used a retired Artisan Label Stampin’ Up! punch to punch out a label in Blackberry Bliss cardstock, this label is what my sentiment will sit up on, to give my sentiment more depth I added some swirls made by lopping some Silver Metallic Thread to go behind the banner.

 

The banner for my sentiment was made using a die from the My Favorite Things Blueprints 23,

I decided to add a thin strip of Silver Glimmer Paper to go behind the banner just to give it a tiny touch of sparkle and also to help it stand out from the background.

 

For the sentiment I used a stamp set from Lil’ Inker Designs called Sketched Floral, I took the “Happy Birthday” stamp and stamped my banner with Versamark ink, I then heat embossed it with Ranger Super Fine Silver Embossing Powder.

 

As a finishing touch to the card and to add a bit more detail, I added some Basic Rhinestone Jewels to some of the swirls, I think this glammed the card up a bit more and also helped show off the swirls on the background.

 

I actually had a lot of fun with this card as it’s something I wouldn’t usually make,

PETITE PETALS

Hello, I hope everyone is having a lovely week,

Today’s card is a super quick and easy birthday card.

 

To start off my card I stamped a bunch of the pretty flowers from the Petite Petals Clear Mount Stamp Set using Blackberry Bliss Classic Stampin' Ink Pad onto some Whisper White cardstock, once these were all stamped and had a chance to dry I punched them out using the coordinating Petite Petals Punch.

 

I then die cut a medium sized circle form Lil’ Inker Designs Stitched Mats Circles die set using Trophee Board White Linen 240 GSM Paper - I used this as it will add a bit more texture to the card as it has that fine embossed print on it that I talked about last week.

 

I also die cut a large stitched rectangle from Lil’ Inker Designs using some gorgeous DSP from the retired Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack that has lovely bold Blackberry Bliss stripes running across it.
 

 

The last thing I had to do before assembling my card was to heat emboss my sentiment,

I used the stamp set Birthday Balloons from Simon Says Stamp and heat embossed this in some Rangers Super Fine Gold Embossing Powder.

 

Putting the card together was very easy, I glued the large stitched rectangle straight to the front of a Whisper White Note Card, and then popped the embossed sentiment stitched circle up on some Foam Dots, lastly I placed my little stamped flowers around the sentiment sort of giving it a flower wreath look.

 

A very quick and easy card that could be made multiple times and given away as a gift.

If you’re not a fan of Blackberry Bliss this is also easy enough to change just be choosing

another colour of DSP and coordinating the stamped flowers to your chosen DSP colour.

Hello Everyone,

Sorry I never posted a card for you all last week, However, I hope to make it up to you with two posts today. Both of today’s posts share one card design with two slightly different finishes, So I made a total of eight cards this week which gave me two of each finished card design.

 

Both of these designs are A2 top folding cards made out of Trophee Board - White Linen 240 GSM Paper.

This paper is a nice weight for card bases and has a subtle embossed print on it that as the name suggest looks like linen or a very fine sanded wood texture.

 

With my card bases all done and set aside for later I moved on to my die cutting,

I used the pretty 2013 - 2015 In Colour cardstock Strawberry Slush and die cut four large Stitched Circles from Lil' Inker Designs, taking  a smaller circle from the same Stitched Circle set I die cut some light pink cardstock from American Crafts - Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm 6 x 6 Paper Pad.

Next I die cut my Hello sentiment from LID’s sixteen times using Basic Black cardstock - yes you read that right, I wanted the same look from my card Golden Thanks with the Hello sentiment raised up without been to bulky, so like I was saying I die cut the word Hello sixteen times which gave me four for each card of the two card designs.

Because I hadn’t had enough of die cutting I then die cut four feathers using Wplus9 Fanciful Feathers Designer Dies out of We R Memory Keepers - Love Notes 6 x 6 Paper Pad in some printed pink cardstock and lastly I took some Gold Glimmer Paper and die cut four more feathers.

 

Now I was just left with the easy part which was stamping the rest of my sentiment,

I used the Wplus9 Fanciful Feathers Stamp Set that coordinates with the feather dies and took the neat word Friend from the stamp set and stamped this to the bottom right hand side of all four cards using the retired Strawberry Slush Classic Stampin' Ink Pad.

 

For the first two of these cards I keep my card design minimal with a lot of white area showing, I wanteda clean, crisp yet pretty end result, with the other two I added some little falling feathers from the Wplus9 Fanciful Feathers Stamp Set and heat embossed these in Rangers Super Fine Gold Embossing Powder down the left hand side, this just added a bit more of an elegant touch and made it a little more flashier than the other two cards.

I also added the gold heat embossed falling feathers down the left hand side to the front of two Whisper White C6 Envelopes, on the other two I took a single feather stamp from the same set and heat embossed a gold feather to the back flap of the envelopes.

GOLDEN THANKS

Hello, Happy Wednesday!

Recently I did a rather large haul at My Favorite Things (MFT) and  Lil' Inker Designs (LID),

Today’s card features some of the dies I got from both companies. 

I used MFT Die-Namics Blueprints 22 as my main building block for this card,

I started by die cut some pretty pattern paper from Rosie Studios using the large one corner rounded stitched panel, taking Basic Black cardstock I die cut the awesome peek-a-boo cover up as well as a sentiment strip, I also die cut another of the sentiment stripes using some retired Moonlight DSP.

Now I could of used the circle that came in the Blueprints set but I wanted to tie in that stitched theme from the one corner rounded  piece so I took a stitched circle from LID and die cut some Blackberry Bliss cardstock, I also die cut two stitched rectangles to go behind my peek-a-boo piece, I die cut one using a Project Life Grid Card and the other using Blackberry Bliss cardstock again, I also ran the Blackberry Bliss die cut through my Cuttlebug using the Pretty Print Embossing Folder to give my card design some more interest. Lastly I took one of my favourite word dies from LID and die cut the word “Thanks” three times using Basic Black cardstock and once using Gold Foil Paper. 

 

Now for my favourite part - Assembling the card front!

Before starting I took some Basic Black cardstock and made a top folding A2 card.

Taking the large stitched pattern paper piece I adhered this straight to my card base,

I adhered the two stitched rectangles next layering them semi crisscrossed on top of each other,
I propped the Peek-a-boo die cut up on some Foam Dots to give the card some added dimension.

I glued my three Basic Black “Thanks” pieces on top of one another and added the Gold Foil Paper on the very top - this just gave it some dimension without been too much. I placed both sentiment stripes under the Thanks die cut as more of an embellishment than anything else, To finish off my card I added a few Doodlebug Design Enamel Dots and that was my card done.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARLING

 

Hello fellow crafty friends,

My card today features another wonderful retired stamp set called Hello Darling.

I love this stamp set for two reasons, the big bold flower stamp which I have used today as it’s great for making your own pretty DSP and that super cute scattered sequin stamp - It just gives a cute little wow factor to some cards.
 

I started off by stamping half a piece of Simon Says Stamp Ultra Thick 120 LB White Cardstock using the big flower stamp in Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana, leaving a few blank areas to later add the embossed scattered sequin stamp in Silver Embossing Powder. Before I heat embossed my paper I ran it through my die cutting machine, die cutting two Stitched Rectangles - I did this first as I didn’t want to break or damage my embossed areas.

 

I then needed to make my own note cards out of some Basic Black cardstock measuring at 5 x 7 scored at 3 ½ Inches, one piece of A4 cardstock gave me two note cards and a stripe left over to make the banners in the middle for my sentiment, these stripes were cut down to ¼ inch wide each.

Once all my cutting was out the way I grab my heat tool and did all my heat embossing using some Ranger Super Fine Silver Embossing Powder using it on the scattered sequins to my stamped / die cut pieces and the back flaps of the envelopes and also my sentiment form the Sketched Floral stamp set, all that was left to do was then punch out a few Bermuda Bay Artisan Labels and then I was ready to start assembling my cards.

 

Assembling the cards was pretty easy; I glued my stamped / die cut piece straight to the card front and then popped the Bermuda Bay Artisan Labels up on some foam dots to give the card dimension, I added some gorgeous Silver Metallic Thread behind my sentiment banners and that was my card finished!
