AS YOU SEE IT CHALLENGE #128

Hello there, Happy Wednesday to you all !
Today I have two cards I created for the As You See It Challenge blog.
This week at As You See it we have a very artistic sketch challenge to work with,
For this week’s challenge I pretty much knew straight away what I wanted to create.

I decided to do something a bit different for this challenge and made two cards, I really liked this sketch and had two of my own card design sketches / blueprints I wanted to use for it, however I couldn’t choose between the two cards so I decided to just make both of them.

Both cards designs are very similar, with just a few things changed in the second card design.
Although the sketch has a grunge vibe to it I wanted to go for a more elegant feel for my first card design.

For my first card I made an A2 top folding card out of Basic Black cardstock,
Using my We R Memory Keepers Trim & Score Board to do all my trimming and scoring.

I started off by die cutting a stitched rectangle out of Trophee Board White Linen cardstock
using my favorite Lil Inker Designs Stitched Mats Rectangles die set.

The sketch has lots of ripped edges to it , however since I couldn’t bring myself to rip my cardstock I decided to dry emboss my stitched rectangle to give my base panel some texture without actual having to rip any cardstock.

I dry embossed the stitched rectangle using the Daisy Do Embossing Folder from Craft Concepts.

I then die cut two banners using the Stampin’ Up! Banners Framelits Die Set, using the second smallest banner in the set to die cut some Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper. Again I wanted to add texture to my design without ripping any cardstock and I felt by adding a simple banner it gave the card more texture.

Using the Simon Says Stamp Large Tags die set I then die cut a tag out of Basic Black Cardstock, I then heat embossed my sentiment onto the bottom of my tag using Rangers Super Fine Silver Embossing Powder.

The sentiment for this card is from a retired Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Bloom With Hope.

Now onto the butterflies, I first took the lace / honeycomb butterfly from the Butterfly Basics Photopolymer Stamp Set and stamped the butterfly in Bermuda Bay ink, I then used the coordinating die to die cut my stamped image out, I then used the second largest butterfly in the Butterflies Thinlits die set to die cut another butterfly out of Soft Sky Cardstock.

To assemble my first card I adhered the dry embossed stitched rectangle straight to the card base using Tombow Mono Multipurpose Liquid Glue, I then used more Tombow to add both Designer Series Paper banners, one with the banner tail showing and the other with the straight edge showing.

To give the card some dimension I added a few Best Creation Large 3D Foam Tape Dots to the tag before placing it onto my card front, I then used more Tombow Mono Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the large
Soft Sky butterfly to the tag, Using Mini Glue Dots I added the stamped Bermuda Bay butterfly on top of the Soft Sky butterfly.

As a finishing touch I added a white Resin Flower from Rosie's Studio to the centre of the stamped Bermuda Bay butterfly and tied a bow onto my tag using some May Arts Silver Metallic String.

I hope you liked this card and how I added texture to it without sacrificing any cardstock,
Don’t forget to check out my other post to see my second card deign for this challenge.

  2. I love the way you've combined the butterflies and the texture you've added to the white stitched panel. Most of all, I love the colour combination and that cute flowery-but-subtle paper that ties it all together. Thanks so much for joining us this week at As You See It.
