Today I have
a card I created for the As You See It Challenge
blog.
This week at
As You See It we have a super cute heart filled sketch
to work with.
Unlike last
time I didn’t really know what I wanted to do for this sketch, it’s a wonderful
sketch but I wanted to do something other than hearts, so after spending a bit
of time playing around with a few ideas I finally came up with something I was
happy with…..
I plan to give this card to a friend of mine who has been going though a bit of a rough patch lately,
I wanted something that would be uplifting and also bring a smile to her face when she opened it,
so I decided to
go with butterflies, lots and lots of butterflies in her favorite colour !
I have rotated the sketch and flipped the sentiment to the other side just to make it work better for me.

Now onto the details... I started
off by using my We R Memory Keepers Trim & Score Board to trim down some of my favorite Trophee
Board White Linen 240 GSM cardstock, making an A2 top folding card.
Next using a
Hostess Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Best Thoughts I took the “You’re In My
Thoughts” stamp and stamped this with Versamark ink and then heat embossed it
with Ranger Super Fine Black Embossing Powder to my card front.
I needed a total of 16 butterflies for my card layout, to make the
butterflies I used the Stampin’ Up! Bitty Butterfly Punch, punching out 16 butterflies in Basic Black
cardstock and 16 butterflies in Bermuda Bay cardstock.
Those of you
who know me personally know I hate wrinkled cardstock, it just very upsetting!
So to avoid
this on my butterflies I make a tiny score line down the centre of the top
layer butterfly, this way when I fold the wings up I’m not left with ugly
creased or wrinkled cardstock, just a pretty, clean fold. =)
To assemble
each butterfly I add a tiny line of Tombow Mono Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the
centre of the Basic Black base butterfly, I then slightly squeeze the wings of
the Bermuda Bay butterfly and place only the centre of the butterfly down on my
glue line, this way I have a base to adhere to my
card but I’m also able to fold the wings up on the top butterfly allowing me to
give each butterfly dimension once it’s on my card.
To finish
off the card I then adhered all the butterflies down to my card front using Mini
Glue Dots,
I decided to add Clear Wink Of Stella to the top Bermuda Bay butterflies just to give the card some sparkle and also to give the card a bit more interest so it wasn't completely plain, I also added a few black Stampin' Up! Candy Dots around the sentiment just as a finishing touch.
