AS YOU SEE IT CHALLENGE #129

Hello, Happy Wednesday everyone!
Today I have a card I created for the As You See It Challenge blog,
This week at As You See It we have another great sketch challenge to work with.

For this week’s challenge we need to create a card with five images in a row on the card front,
I have rotated this weeks sketch to better suit the elements I have chosen for my cards design.

I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to create for this challenge however I had one tiny problem,
I didn’t have any eyewear (glasses) sentiments, but instead of binning my idea I decided to improvise.

So since I don’t own any quirky eyewear sentiments I decided to make my own using Gimp,
Like the last time I made my own sentiment with Gimp I decided to use a bit of word play.

To make my sentiment a bit more quirky I have broken the word spectacular up, using some
funky brackets that look like little glasses to separate “Spec” so it reads { Spec } Tacular.

Because my card is going to be natural with just a spot colour I wanted to incorporate this into my sentiment
so I colour blocked the word “Spec” with Melon Mambo, this just helped tie in my spot colour and made the sentiment a bit more interesting.

With my sentiment all ready to go and lined up for my card base I then used my home printer and printed the sentiment out onto a sheet of Trophee Board White Linen 240 GSM cardstock, I then used my We R Memory Keepers Trim & Score Board to trim and score my card base, making an A2 top folding card.

Now onto the fun part… I got these adorable spectacle dies (Stunning Spectacles) from Poppy Stamps a little while back and have been dying to use them on a card and this week’s sketch was just perfect for them.

Like I said above I wanted my card to have a spot colour whilst keeping everything else nice and natural so I wanted four of the glasses on my card to be Basic Black with my fifth (middle) pair of glasses in Melon Mambo.

I also wanted my glasses to be raised not just flat on my card front and since there isn’t a lot of room around the frames to add any foam dots I decided to do a little trick I like to call stacking, this Is where you die cut the same image several times and glue them all together to get that added dimension; for each pair of my glasses I die cut each one four times and glued them together to get one pair.

To add a bit of detail to the glasses I added some Clear Wink Of Stella to the Melon Mambo frames, I then gave all the of the glasses a generous coating of Rangers Glossy Accents to jazz up the glasses a little more and make them look a little more real.

As a finishing touch I added a tiny bow to the Melon Mambo frames, made with the Paper Smooches Baby Bow die, die cut from some DCWV Black Twinkle Glints cardstock finished with a Basic Rhinestone Jewel to the center of the bow.

As a final detail I added a few Pretty Pink Posh 6mm Orchid Sequins around the frames, this is a super cute card made with very few supplies, a little bit fiddly if you want to stack the frames but I think it was definitely worth it.

Hope you enjoyed my spectacle card with the spot colouring,
Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting,
