AS YOU SEE IT CHALLENGE #127

Hello, Happy Wednesday everyone !
Today I have a card I created for the As You See It Challenge blog,
Sadly I’ve missed a few weeks at As You See It, March is always a busy time for me at work
as lots of our winter racehorses are back in work, so I’m pretty flat out riding at the moment.
However I’m determined to play along this week and get back into the swing of things again.

This week at As You See It we have a lovely spring themed colour challenge.
Our colours for this week are Melon Mambo, Cucumber Crush and So Saffron!

With Easter only just around the corner I decided to finally make a start on my Easter cards,
this week’s colour challenge just seemed so fitting for an Easter card with the fun and bright colours.

I started off by using my We R Memory Keepers Trim & Score Board to trim down
some Trophee Board White Linen 240 GSM cardstock, making an A2 top folding card.

I then did something a bit different to what I would normally do and used a digital image,
The original digital image is of a single bunny so I had to alter and edit it three times to get the
final result you see in my card, to do this I used Gimp (a free GNU Image Manipulation Program).

I was hoping I had a stamp that would tie in with this card however I couldn’t find anything that I liked so I went back to Gimp and made my very own sentiment, and I must say I was very happy with myself and the end result.

To add a bit of a playful touch to my sentiment I changed the word “Happy” to “Hoppy”,
I thought this was very fitting since bunnies hop and it tied in nicely with the hipster vibe these bunnies have.

I then used Gimp one more time to make my final image, combining all three bunnies and my sentiment all into one image, I then used my home printer and printed the image out onto a sheet of Trophee Board White Linen 240 GSM cardstock.

I then die cut my printed image out using a stitched rectangle die from the Lil Inker Designs,
I popped my whole die cut image up with Best Creation Large 3D Foam Tape Dots to add some dimension to the card so it wasn’t one flat layer.

To add a bit of detail to my image / card I added some Clear Wink Of Stella to the frames of the bunnies glasses and the polka dots on the bunnies bow ties, and as just one more finishing touch I added some Rangers Glossy Accents to the bunnies noses.

Not my typical card but I hope you liked my take on this week’s colour challenge,
Have a lovely week and as always, thanks so much for stopping by,

  2. I love your bunnies with their cool glasses! Such a great use of the colours. I've never done any digital card or scrapbooking, so I enjoyed reading about how you'd done it. Thanks so much for joining us this week at As You See It.

    1. Thank you Jan for your lovely comment, Gimp is a great starting tool if you are wanting to try out a few digital cards or scrapbooking pages, if you find its something you like you can then always buy Photoshop for the more serious digital artist.
